The Gasflux company has a long history making Gasfluxers, specialized equipment that places flux into the oxy-acetylene flame to provide better quality joints when brazing or silver soldering. The added benefit is greatly reduced clean-up time, especially when brazing bronze or brass brazing. The Gasflux C-04 rod is the industry standard for brass fillet brazing rods. We sell a lot of it. The Gasflux paste fluxes for silver and brass are also industry favorites. Henry James Bicycles Inc., is the official Bicycle Industry Distributor for the Gasflux Company. |

The sketch below shows how the Gasfluxer works when connected to an unmodified oxy-acetylene torch system. The liquid flux used works with brass, bronze and silver brazing materials. There is no need to change the liquid flux when you change brazing rods. Liquid flux usage is very low. As the acetylene bubbles up through about 2" of liquid flux only a small amount is entrapped and carried into the flame. This small amount of flux is very effective because it is always applied to the work where the flame heats it. The flux is at the flame temperature, so it is very active. The liquid flux only goes where the flame goes. This means that the inside of all joints must have a thin coating of the appropriate paste flux for the rod being used. Gasflux Type "B" blue paste flux for brass or bronze and Type "U" white paste flux for silver are industry standards. |
